Great River Race for Student Success

Stay tuned for information on the 3rd Annual Great River Race in September 2013!

The Great River Race is an annual canoe challenge designed to raise funds for the Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures program, allowing us to provide scholarships and make the program accessible to schools and organizations serving low-income youth and families.

Each September, local corporations, nonprofits, and government organizations participate in the friendly competition. Teams race 24' Voyaguer canoes on the Mississippi River. Each team races on behalf of a local school in an effort to win that school a $5,000 UWCA scholarship. Participants experience a safe, fun, competitive and expertly-produced canoe race, led by Wilderness Inquiry and National Park Service staff with extensive experience in leading paddling adventures on the Mississippi River.
