The UWCA creates great adventures for youth, families, and adults on the Mississippi River. Join us for a day trip, overnight camping trip, or multi-day trip. It's an experience that will last a lifetime.


Volunteers help make this incredible program a reality. Check out the volunteer needs and resources listed below. 

Boat Captains: We are looking for strong stern paddlers to captain 24' Voyaguer canoes. Ideal candidates have advanced canoe paddling skills and comfort leading groups of urban youth. Full Description.


UWCA Event Assistants and Warehouse Workers: Volunteers are needed to help fit life jackets, distribute paddles, assist students as they get into and out of canoes, and clean and put away gear.

All boat captains must attend a skills assessment and interpretive training.
